Rootsriders and Melkweg are certainly no strangers to one another: Back in 2006 (!) we've performed here for the very first time (albeit in a completely different line up). Since then we have performed no less than 12 times as a headliner with our own show at this concert venue, of which 11 times at the brilliant The Max hall.
This year it is 50 years since The Wailers released their revolutionary international breakthrough album Catch A Fire, which brought the exciting and sultry sound of Reggae music and its conscious lyrics to the world outside of Jamaica.
On May 11th we will pay tribute not only to the album that made Marley a global superstar but, as always, we will also shine our light on the rest of Marley's incredible catalogue.
We are an Amsterdam-based Dutch/Caribbean band who were formed in 2006 to commemorate Bob Marley's 25th anniversary of his passing and over the years we have become a fixture on the Dutch music scene and far beyond: from the Caribbean to Istanbul and from New York to Johannesburg, where we had the honor to perform during the official FIFA 2010 World Cup final halftime show for over 100.000 people.
Singer Mo Ali from Sudan, Africa is our current lead singer who we found, as it happens nowadays, through social media.
